Final Wishes - The Book
When I was much younger, my mother always made sure I was wearing a “clean pair of undies”. This was, according to her, just in case I was run over by a bus. I say this because it was in my mind as I prepared to meet a family in which a member had been hit by a bus. The family was traumatized by their sudden loss. What made it harder was they had no real idea what to do. Not just the logistics of dealing with the death of someone close to them, but how they were going to give their loved one the type of farewell they not only deserved but more importantly, what the deceased had wanted. So, I created a book designed to help in times like these, to give every family peace of mind that everything is in place. The book is easy to understand because it’s not a legal document drawn up by a bunch of lawyers. It simply lays out your final wishes of what you want to happen when the time comes.
I've divided it into easy-to-follow sections including a care plan, DNR orders, your will, your final days, the role of an end-of-life doula (and if you want or need one), your decision on a funeral or memorial, etc.
There's also a section on your life story and how it should be told according to your wishes. Last but not least, there is a section where you can leave your confidential personal details for your family. Needless to say, the booklet should be kept in a safe and secure place. This book comes in two versions:
• Single-person• Couple
Both versions are hand-finished with embossed leather trim and are available as Standard (AUD$29.95 + postage) or Deluxe (AUD$39.95 + postage). A percentage of the proceeds is donated to The Bayside-Kingston Prostate Cancer Support Group without whose support, this book would not have happened.
The standard version comes with a non-personalised cover. The Deluxe version is personalised with your name(s) on the cover.
